So, a while ago I saw two pictures…

and this sort of happened…

To give you a low-down of what I did, basically it was really simple and easy to do.  I transformed my closet door to an inspiration chalkboard for about $15.  I went to Michael’s, and purchased plain black chalkboard paint, which you can find here.  And then, I got paintbrushes and chalk!  You can probably guess what happened next.  I painted it and then wrote on it!  (Well, this is after you know, paying, and then driving home, and then walking in the door, and then getting to my room, and then yeah..).  So, I painted three coats on the originally white door, and it’s perfectly opaque.  When I started writing on it with the chalk, I did come across an issue, which is a bit of a downfall to this project.  The chalk is so hard on the board that it occasionally scratches the paint off, and reveals the white beneath the black.  That kind of sucks, but I guess it’s a pretty easy fix.  Aside from that, it is great!  I am hoping to change out some of the quotes sometime soon, and I’ve even seen this picture that I might try out…

…which is the lyrics to one of my favourite songs, Drops of Jupiter by Train.  There really are so many options that you could do with this, so it’s a great summer project!  Here are a couple more pictures of my own door.

You may be able to see that the purple Y from ‘you’ is slightly smudged, which I guess is another downfall, but, it happens!

Anyways, I hope you guys enjoyed seeing this little project I did a while ago, and PLEASE let me know if you try anything else like it!  Talk soon!

Motivational Monday: New Favourite Quotes (Nov. 2012)

Hey guys!  So I’ve recently found some amazing quotes on tumblr, and wanted to share them for Motivational Monday!

“The problem with the world is that the intelligent people are full of doubts and the stupid people are full of confidence”

“Be the person you want to meet”

“Promote what you love instead of smashing what you hate”

“I like people that smile while it’s raining”

“Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle”

“When something bad happens, you have three choices; you can let it define you, you can let it destroy you, or you can let it strengthen you”

“You just have to say hi.  They may ignore you, they may marry you.  And that possibility is worth one word”

“Everything in life is temporary.  So if things are going good, enjoy it because it won’t last forever.  And if things are going bad, don’t worry.  It can’t last forever either”

“Life is a great big canvas.  Throw all the paint on it you can.”

“Live in such a way that is someone spoke badly of you no one would believe it.”

“Always wear you invisible crown.”

That’s it for today!  Have a good week!

Liv’s Life: My All Time Favourite Quotes (July 2012)

Hey guys…again!  So I just finished writing three posts, and I decided to take a break and do this post!  I am working on my life board, and I wanted to type up my favourite quotes from my quote jar, so I could tack them onto my board!  I don’t even have a bulletin board yet, and I have a ton of other things to buy before that, so I honestly am not quite too sure if that will even happen by this summer….sorry!  Haha, but I still want to show my favourite quotes as of July 2012.  OK, here we go!

(All of these quotes are not by me, they are by other people, that I can’t name off!  Sorry!)

“What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger”

“There is a place where the sidewalk ends, and before the street begins

and there the grass grows soft and white, and there the sun burns crimson bright

and there the moon-bird rests from his flight

to cool in the peppermint wind.”

-Shel Silverstein (a fav!)

“I like people who smile while it’s raining”

“Enjoy the little things, for one day you may looks back and realize they were big things”

“Your life is what your thoughts make it”

“The past is practice”

“Wake up every morning with the thought that something wonderful is about to happen”

“Kill the with kindness”

“Life isn’t about finding yourself, it’s about creating yourself”

“The price of anything is the amount of life you exchange for it”

“Everyone you meet has something to teach you”

“Your life is your message to the world.  Make it inspiring.”

“In three words I can sum up everything I’ve learned about life.  IT GOES ON.”

“The most important things is to enjoy life-to be happy– it’s all that matters.

“We do not remember days.  We remember moments”

“We don’t see things the way they are.  We see them the way we are.”

“Be yourself.  Everyone else is taken.”

“Everyday do something that will inch you closer to a better tomorrow.”

“For every minute you are angry, you lose sixty seconds of happiness.”

“Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.”

“Deal with the world the way it is, not the way you wish it is.”

Things I should NOT do:

-look back on the things that hurt

-reminisce on the things I find ridiculous

-regret

-lose focus on the significant things

-cheat myself out of a good opportunity

-choose to expect less than what I am capable of

-lose to life

Talk to you guys soon (: Goodnight!

Motivational Monday: My Quote Jar

Happy Monday!  So I talked to you guys about a quote jar, and how I wanted to make one, so I did!  I am just going to be sharing some of my favourite quotes that I have found during the process of making this jar of quotes.

“I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they’re right, you believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together” -Marilyn Monroe

“In three words I can sum up everything I’ve learned about life: IT GOES ON.” -Robert Frost

“I may have not gone where I intended to go, but I think I ended up where I needed to be” -Douglas Adams

“Twenty years from now you will be more dissapointed by the things that you didn’t do than the ones you did do.” -Mark Twain

“Be yourself.  Everyone else is taken.” -Oscar Wilde

I’d totally recommend making one of these!  Sometimes people have bad days, and I know that I always have just ick days, and this thing is great to have!

TGIF: DIY Memory & Quote Jars

Hey everyone!  It’s June, and it’s the weekend!  YAY!

This week I have been working on my Summer Bucket List quite a bit, and I wanted to share an idea of something that is on my SBL.  Two of the things that are on my bucket list are “Make a memory jar” and “Make a quote jar”.  I came up with this idea a little while ago because I was thinking about my life board.  I knew I was going to be changing out things on my life board constantly, and wanted a place to save everything that was not being used on my board.  So, I came up with the idea of putting all of the quotes in a jar, and having it in my room.  Then, I came up with the idea of having a favourite memory jar, and just a plain old quote jar.

Basically, my idea is to take little slips of paper, and fill one jar with different quotes that I like, and another with amazing memories.  This way, whenever I am bored or in a non-happy mood, then I can read my favourite quotes and favourite memories to kind of cheer me up.

I am going to be making them hopefully soon (I know I had them on my SBL, but I just can’t wait!!), and I will post about them soon to show you more of what I am thinking of.  I think it’s a great project for the weekend, and they make cute decorations too!  If you get creative with them, you can end up making great little pieces!  They are also great as gifts, if you have a friend that you have a lot of memories with, or if you know that they would appreciate some quotes!  I’d totally recommend it!  You guys know I love little things like this!  Oh, and if you have any other suggestions of what else to put in jars that are similar to this, let me know!  I would LOVE to make more of these!

Talk to you in a few!  Bye guys.  Have a good one.
