A Christmas Manicure

The other day I completed my Christmas nails for the year, and thought I’d share them.  I adore this new trend–half moon–and figured it’d be fun to try the style with Christmas colours and glitter.

Thanks for reading!  I plan to have a new video up tomorrow, as my friends are going to *hopefully* make a guest appearance for a Christmas tag!  I’ll have a link up soon.  Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays to all!

China Glaze Lemon Fizz

Everyone responded really well to my last NOTD, so I thought I would show you what’s on my nails today!  Another very spring-y shade by China Glaze!  This one is called Lemon Fizz, which is a beautiful, bright pastel yellow.  Spring chicks on your nails!!  This is pretty much the ultimate spring shade to have, and it’s a beautiful colour.  It doesn’t make my fingers look sickly or anything like that, just very cheerful!  I got this shade a while back from Sally Beauty Supply, and I used three coats without a topcoat.

Talk soon!

Essie Absolutely Shore

Happy sunday!  It’s a beautiful march day today, and in spite of that, I’ve painted my nails a very spring-y colour.  It is very strange doing this because I’ve been so used to the dark colours for winter, but I’ve dusted off my spring/summer polishes, and they’re ready for the next few months!  Yipee!  I’m ready for a change.

Absolutely Shore was from one of Essie’s summer collections I believe in 2011, called “Brazilliant”.  I love mint in general, especially in nail polish form, so I picked it up and I love it!  I’m not sure if it’s still available, seeing it was from a couple years ago, but I thought I would snap a picture of it anyways, because it is a beautiful colour.  I’m thinking about starting up my OOTDs and NOTDs again since the new season is approaching, and I’ve been getting some of my older clothes out.

Butter LONDON’s ‘Bossy Boots’ seems similar to this colour, being a very bright, light green-based mint.  Absolutely Shore looks a white from a far, but up close it is a almost beige-y green.  I guess they’re calling it ‘pistachio’.

What’s your favourite colour to wear for spring?  Have a great week!

Gradient Nails

So I have been loving the nail blog pshiiit.com, and I found a picture that I just fell in love with.  I thought I would re-create it and show you guys!  It was so easy to do, and my nails look great!

Here’s my recreation!

So to do this, I just took a paper plate and a makeup sponge, and dipped the sponge onto the plate with a bit of nail polish on it, and then started to stipple it onto the tips of my nails.  I concentrated it towards the ends of my nails, and then sheered it out a bit towards the cuticle, which gave it an ombre or gradient effect.  The colours I used were Essie Midnight Cami for the base (one of my favourites!) and Essie Trophy Wife for the ombre effect.  I finished off with my OPI top coat because it was a little scratchy and matte, and I’m good to go!

I have always loved the ombre look to just about everything, including hair, and even shirts, which I did a DIY post on here!  Now I am so glad that I know that it is so easy, and I can do it with just about every colour.  I’m excited to do it with more neutrals too!  Oh, and a combo that would look great is Essie Lilacism and Carry on…haha I am excited now!

Here’s another method to getting an ombre nail with just one step!

Blog Love: pshiiit.com– Awesome Nail Combos

Hey guys!  So about a week ago I found a really good nail blog, and wanted to share!  It is all in french, but I personally just like getting inspiration from their pictures!  My google chrome automatically translates everything for me, but of course it’s not all in proper order and stuff because french is a lot different than english.  I personally like just plain, classy nails, and they have lots of pictures of ways to kind of spice up your regular solid colour without making it totally overboard.  She has the same taste in nails as I do, and I just really enjoy looking at tons of pictures!

Beware…you will immediately want to paint your nails after you go see her blog!!

So, I’ll talk to you guys soon!  Thanks for reading!

NOTD: OPI Sweetheart & Metallic 4 Life

So I recently painted my nails and I wanted to show you guys what they looked like!  Kind of a strange spin from what I usually go for, but I actually saw something exactly like this on a girl in my art class, and wanted to recreate it!  The two colours I used were OPI Sweetheart (on eight of the nails) and OPI Metallic 4 Life from the Nicki Minaj collection a while ago on my ring fingers.  I think this would look good with any neural glitter on the ring fingers, I just tried it with this one!

Excuse the humongous swollen fingers! ;)
