Questionable Insomnia, 2014, and the Avalanche in My Backyard

Hiiii,

Happy 2014!  I thought I’d just write for this post…to be honest, I haven’t done that in a while!

So, as I type, it is approximately 9AM on a Monday morning.  School is out due to the Arctic like conditions outside, and I am awake.  Yes.  Awake on a Monday morning when I could be sleeping in.  And the funny thing is, I haven’t even slept yet.  I have tossed and turned, played music, and laid in silence, went on my computer…and now I’ve concluded that I have insomnia, and a blog post and video editing is the solution.  Delirious Olivia at her finest…

Anyways, here are a few pictures that I’ve taken over the past while of my backyard.  Loving this new camera!

16 Things About Me

Hello, all!  I hope you are enjoying the last little bits of Summer, because we all know it’s starting to get dark at 8:30….

Anyways, it’s time for a simple Q&A!  I haven’t done one of these in a while and sort of missed it.  So, here’s sixteen random questions!

1. What time is it?  Well, as I’m writing this, 11:51PM.  I’m going to guess and say that’s not the time when I’m posting this though, haha.

2. How did you come up with your username?  Apparently my thirteen year old self thought it’d be wise to point out the fact that I love cats, so yep, that’s my URL.

3. Where do you live?  Ontario, Canada

4. Pets?  A dog and two cats that like to make appearances on here sometimes; just sometimes.

5. Favourite colour?  I’m not too picky about colours; I pretty much like them all.  You could say mint, but I also really love army green and navy.

6. What do you have most of in your closet?  Probably lots of plain shirts to layer.  Exciting, I’m aware.

7. What are you currently listening to?  Ramble On by Led Zeppelin.

8. What is your occupation?  Student by day, writer by night ;)

9. Describe yourself using five words.  Uhm, I’d probably say determined, sarcastic, [way too] logical, quirky, and sometimes a little cold.

10. Top three favourite songs?  So, I’m the type of friend that likes to bug other people about my music until they hate me, so I’ve thought this over fifteen million times.  Easy.  All Too Well-Taylor Swift, Last Kiss-Taylor Swift, Kiss Me-Ed Sheeran.

11. Birthday month?  September (woop woop)

12. Age?  Fourteen going on twenty three.  Soon to be fifteen [feeling like there’s nothingggg to figure outttt].

13. Favourite music genre?  I’m going to be boring and say pop.  Or at least whatever Taylor Swift is, because my iTunes is telling me country, although I despise country.  I like a lot of things at the moment…lots of alternative.

14. Hobbies?  Writing, listening to music, watching YouTube videos, shamelessly keeping track of the BlueJays and their incredible scores (I am contemplating converting to a Yankees fan.  Yeah.), drawing, scrolling through the deep dark depths of tumblr, procrastinating, staying up late…you know, the usual.

15. Favourite movies? Friends With Benefits, The Hangover One & Two (yet to see three), The Conjuring (HAH.  Just Kidding), A Cinderella Story, Valentine’s Day, Accepted.

16. Favourite book?  Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire.  I think I’m going to do an entire post on it once I’ve finished the sequel.  For a lack of better description, it’s soooooooo good!

RED Tour 2013: Toronto

Hey there!  Guess who’s (almost) officially on Summer break?!  This girl!  So, recently I went to see Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran, and as promised, I’d show you some pictures!  We sat quite far from the main stage, but the second stage where she played a few songs was pretty close to us, so we got some good pictures there.

Channelling My Inner Serena Van Der Woodsen

Hello!  I hope you are all having a lovely day, or night, whenever you may be reading this!  So I thought I would do something a little different today.  I am going to talk a little bit about what’s been going on in my life for the past few months.

So I’ve already told you about high school, and losing friends.  Because my friends and I drifted, it’s been hard to make new friends.  The last few months of 2012 were really difficult for me.  I was so sick and tired of everyone and how nobody would ever pay attention to me.  Unfortunately, it’s the way society works, at least for fourteen year olds.  If you are not interesting or funny, I promise, hardly anyone will like you.  It blows.  I have always been very shy and awkward around strangers, and people that I’ve first met.  Because of this, nobody ever really wanted to befriend me because it seemed like there was nothing special about me.  The one friend that I kept during high school was the only one that actually saw me open up.  It was REALLY hard losing all of those friends, and I expected high school to be better with new people.  I thought I was going to have at least two or three really good friends, but that’s not the way high school works.  If you want someone’s attention, you have to get it.  You socially cannot live high school without being outgoing.  Along with being shy, I am very awkward and quirky.  Whenever I was talking to someone, all I could think about was how uncomfortable I was, and how awkward I was talking, until I would just give up, and only talk to that person if they talked to me.

The new semester has been a real change.  I have learned to be more comfortable around people, and be really friendly.  You have to get completely out of your comfort zone, which I was not willing to do before.  Ask people questions.  Talk to them first. This is going to sound way too cheesy, and I apologize in advance, but I think watching Gossip Girl did this to me.  Serena Van Der Woodsen has inspired me to be more comfortable and less awkward.  She was always a very charming, approachable character, and I wanted to be her so badly.  I am completely aware she is just a character in a drama TV show, and she’s fake and perfect, but her qualities were real.  She always smiles when she talks to someone, and acts like she’s known them for years.

Before I go, I just wanted to say that I am sorry for being gone for this long again….ugh.  But, I am working on an exciting DIY tomorrow, and that will be posted sometime over the weekend.  Thank you guys so much for reading!  Have a good Easter weekend!

Talk soon.

My “Little Things” Jar

Hello to all, and happy Saturday!  So about a month and a half ago I made a ‘little things 2013’ jar.  I saw a picture of the idea ages ago, and I love little things like this.  Writing in a journal, blogging, quote jars, memory jars, memory boxes, stuff like that.  I just adore the feeling you get when you look at something from years ago that you completely forgot about.  The idea of this is to write little things that happen throughout your day onto a slip of paper (with the date), and put them into this jar.  Once the year is over, you’re aloud to look at them again.  ‘Little things’ don’t include the big events in your life, like getting a new car, or prom, they are just the little things that made your day.  If nothing really special happened that day or that week, you don’t have to write anything.  A couple examples of mine are ‘movie marathon weekend; watched LOL, The Last Song, Friends With Benefits, Monte Carlo’, or ‘exploring the library with my english class, joking & telling stories about the books’, or ‘making it through every light without stopping on way home from school’ (yes that was a big deal because you have no idea how long it takes me to get home.  I’m so cool.).  I love the idea of this because chances are, you will forget all of the small positive things by the end of the year, so they sort of just make you smile while thinking back to your memories.

I hope you all have an amazing weekend!  Leave a comment below telling me if you have one of these, or if you’re going to try it!  I’d love to hear some of your thoughts!
